Welcome to HRUFC Under 9s!

The new season is underway and what with all the excitement of starting contact rugby, it’s been easy to overlook the rather minor matter of the Rugby World Cup. The 9s have been throwing themselves into training and opposing players with equal gusto and the standard of some of their play is very encouraging at such an early stage of the season. The squad continues to grow, with 19 players stepping up from Under 8, and with a small dash of new blood we have expanded to 21 players at full strength.

For all of those players, welcome – it’s great to have you with us and we look forward to another fantastic season.

For anyone checking this site for the first time – please come and join in; we are always looking for new players to add to the squad with the aim of running two teams – Hyenas and Hawks – as often as possible.

This age group is where the game suddenly gets complicated for the players and the learning curve is Everest-steep as several technical aspects of rugby are added to the core skills learned playing TAG. Our dedicated team of coaches put a lot of effort into designing training that is fun, effective and safe, with the emphasis on the players learning by doing. All the coaches are qualified at UKCC Level One and have been cleared by the CRB, as well as completing the RFU Child Protection Workbook. First Aid cover is on hand at every training session.

In short, we provide boys and girls alike with an ideal introduction to team sports in a safe, properly supervised and fun environment. If your child is in Year 4 at school, then the Under 9s is the team to join.
