YORKSHIRE CUP MATCH VS DRIFFIELD - PREVIEW

Table-topping Huddersfield could face Otley in the Yorkshire Cup, provided theybeat Driffield this weekend.  'Field won the Yorkshire cup in 2011 and will hope that this season’s good form will carry them far in this year’s competition. First-team Manager Lee Paxman said: “We’re taking this competition seriously as it’s the Yorkshire Cup. We are proud of the history of this competition and will look to get as far as we can. The first round draw will allow 'Field to blend senior and Falcons players, as the clubs injury list continues to grow. Paxman said: “We have a few injuries at the moment, but this fixture will allow us to see a few fringe players and rotate to look at some options. “This does not mean we slacken off in any way at all. We’re happy to name such a strong side which shows the strength in depth that we have.

Paxman has had many selection dilemmas because of the performances made by Falcons players. Captain Henry Ward made his first senior appearance last week and centre Thomas Van Rooyen has continued to exploit his chances with the senior side. Paxman said: “TVR and Henry deserve all the starts they get in the senior side, they both lead by example on and off the pitch and are the catalysts for performances in the Falcons side.

Should 'Field overcome Driffield, they will face Otley, who currently sit 12th in National League Two North. Paxman said: “A win would see us play Otley and it is a great chance for us to turn them over and test ourselves against a team in the division above.  'Field could well end up playing Otley next season, as they currently enjoy a 12 point lead at the top of National League Three North with, just eight games to play. Their charge for promotion carries on next week at home to Percy Park.

Paxman said: “A week off from our league duties can hopefully continue the success we have seen from all of our senior sides this year.”
