John Oddie who was in his mid-80’s has died in America where he has been resident many years.

He played Huddersfield First XV Rugby from 1954 to 1963, for Yorkshire in 1962 and was Captain in the 1960/61 Season.

John was a larger than life character and worked in the family engineering business, Spencer Halstead in Ossett which was sold to Carborundum of America in the mid 1960’s.

The Club would like to pass on their condolences to the family and friends.
