JESS BUNYARD (Head of Women’s and Girl’s Rugby and Coach Developer)


Jess joined HRUFC from Huddersfield YMCA where she served as Director of Women’s and Girl’s Rugby and Rugby Development Officer. She has coached the Huddersfield University Women’s First XV and has been Assistant Forwards Coach for the Yorkshire Under 18 Girls team. She is also a RFU ‘All Schools’ coach helping deliver rugby to youngsters in the school environment.

Having taken to the game at Goldsmiths University, London where she gained BA (Hons) and MA degrees in Fine Art and Art History and Contemporary Art and earned her full ‘Rugby Colours’ playing in the forwards she went on to play club rugby with Brockleians, Barking and Halifax.

Jess is passionate about engaging people in the sport and enjoys sharing the learning experience with those she works with. To that end she has become vastly qualified gaining her badges and certificates in all aspects of rugby teaching, safety and management.

Jess also hosts the ‘Breaking the Pane’ podcast for Rugby Coach Weekly which draws in celebrity guests from the world of rugby to discuss the burning issues of day.

She is proud to be a female coach in both the women’s and the men’s game and says ‘I’m keen to hit the ground running at HRUFC and excited about working with the other coaches. The club is well established and I’m looking forward to working within and expanding the coaching structure.’
