Welcome to the 2006-2007 Under 7s!!!

If you’ve found yourself at our web page then you probably have a girl or a boy who is the right age to start to play rugby. You only have to take one more step and come and try the game out!! Up to the age of 9, kids play TAG rugby. Under 7s and under 8s rugby is the lifeblood of the union game. If kids get involved at this stage they invariably continue their development though the age groups to senior levels.

Huddersfield RUFC is the perfect club to play at as we have age groups to cater for this development right through to our senior 1st XV.

It’s one of the relatively few clubs in England to be awarded the RFU seal of approval.

We’re hoping this year is as fun and successful as last season – we have a trophy to defend as you can see!

COACHES

Your three coaches this season are James Bouch, Martin Leeming and Robyn Millman. All of us have children in the U7s age group.

All the coaches at HRUFC are RFU trained and fully committed to the development of the section.

We have a fully qualified first aider in the coaching staff.

TRAINING

The new season kicks off with a training session at Lockwood on 3rd September at 10:30. We’ll be handing out fixture sheets and registration forms on the day.

We have strong ethos of participation at this level, so anyone who turns up at training will be involved – we may, for safety reasons, split off the youngest players from the main group and train them separately.

MATCH DAY POLICY

We’d like to have a very clear policy on match day. Match days at home can also be used for training, so anyone who turns up will either get a match or be involved in a training session. We’ll aim to give everyone at least half a match, unless it’s unsafe to do so due to the age/size of the player.

For away games I don’t want anyone to have a wasted journey. We don’t have control over extra space and time when we’re away, and only play a maximum of two games, so for these matches we’ll poll availability and choose a group players to take to the game – all of them will play in a match. Everyone else is welcome to come along but we can’t guarantee to be able to find training space or spare coaches.

Hopefully these guidelines are clear – they’re designed to make the season as inclusive as possible and they’re based on your suggestions and feedback from last season.

HELP

Even though we have three coaches we still find we need to enlist help “on the fly” to help with the odd training session, running touch and so on. If you’d like to help on a bit more of a formal basis then let us know and we’ll grab you more often!! This is also an opportunity to see if you fancy becoming a coach in the future.

We are looking for someone to help with the administration of the section – there is some paperwork to manage; please let me know if you’d like to help with this.

So, looking forward to seeing you all on the 3rd!!!
